Where to start? I moved to the North Shore of Vancouver almost 10 years ago to be a part of the mountain bike scene that I had only seen in videos and mags. Once here I embarked on a journey of mechanics and riding that has formed the base for the most rewarding time in my life.
I love living and riding on the shore, love spending time with my family and friends and I love making sure that others can have as much fun on their bikes as I do.
I started riding through River Valley Cycle in Edmonton in 2004. There I found my passion for working on bikes and for riding as much as I possibly could. It was strange coming to the sport relatively late. Hearing everyone talk about their first bikes and the moment they first threw a leg over the saddle. Though I had a bike when I was a kid, I still consider my first bike to be an old Rocky mountain Switch; built with second hand donated parts, and my first ride to be when I was 22 years old.
Two things soon became apparent. 1) I couldn’t afford to keep buying new stuff as quickly as I broke it and 2) that I needed to move to North Vancouver to pursue the riding lifestyle. This started me on my way working up the shop totem pole. From garbages to wrenching and eventually to managing service departments.
The past 10 years have been the best of my life. I’m now lucky enough to ride almost every day and to use my hands to constantly fix and maintain the very machines that enable me to live life to the fullest. Working as a race mechanic for some of BC’s top pros, as well as being an instructor at the Bike Room, help to always keep pushing my skills and knowledge at the top of their game. Being able to work with top riders through developmental projects always keeps the skills and knowledge growing. This ensures that BicycleHub will always be able to help you with those “knocks, creaks, bangs” or whatever other love your bike needs. BicycleHub also gives me an amazing platform form which to volunteer my time and energy. Working with groups such as the Scouts here in North Vancouver or Community Bike Fairs through Edmonds Community gives me the opportunity to help grow passion for cycling and the outdoors with todays youth!
So give me a shout if you ever want to head for a ride, have a beer or need something worked on. I’m happy to be there!
